Clint Eastwood first starred as "the Man with no name" in "A Fistful of Dollars," an Italian film released in 1964 (It wouldn't find its way to a US screen until 1967). Directed by Italian Sergio Leone and filmed in Spain, the genre which emerged from the film is referred to as the "spaghetti western." In "A Fistful of Dollars" Eastwood plays a drifter who happens on two feuding families and makes money off both as a gunfighter.
Sean Connery returned as James Bond in "From Russia With Love." The second Bond film doubled the gross earnings of the first, "Dr. No."

Released over the Christmas holidays, "The Sword in the Stone" was an animated Disney movie about a young King Arthur being trained by Merlin. Writer Bill Peet said he modeled the character of Merlin after his boss, Walt Disney.

Debbie Reynolds was nominated for an academy award in her role as Molly.

Peter Sellers was a triple threat in "Dr. Strangelove," playing the title role, plus Group Captain Lionel Mandrake and President Merkin Muffley.
George Peppard and Carroll Baker starred in "The Carpetbaggers." Just like Harrold Robbins book, the movie was quite racy: Jonas Cord: "What do you want to see on your honeymoon? Monica Winthrop: "Lots of lovely ceilings!"
In "The Pink Panther," Inspecter Clouseau (Peter Sellers) is unaware that his wife, Simone (Cappucine) is the paramour of the jewel thief he is pursuing, Sir Charles Lytton (David Niven).
For classic movie romance in 1963 there was "Charade" starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. A romantic comedy that sometimes doubles as a spy thriller, "Charade" was filmed in Paris.
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton parlayed their love affair into two hit movies: "The V.I.P's" and "Night of the Iguana."
Even Yogie Bear was able to reach #1 at the box office at the start of summer.
"It's a Mad Mad Mad World" was about a diverse group of travelers who met up at a car accident (Jimmy Durante) and then went on a reckless chase to retrieve buried treasure -- $350,000. It had an all-star cast -- how many can you name?
