In Von Ryan's Express, an American officer, Joseph Ryan (Frank Sinatra) leads a group of British prisoners out of Italy. When Ryan is betrayed by the Italian commander of the prison and all of the sick prisoners are shot, Major Eric Fincham (Trevor Howard) blames Ryan, declaring, "You'll get your Iron Cross now, VON Ryan." |
In Fail Safe, Henry Fonda plays the President who has to try and stop a nuclear war when US Air Force bombers are mistakenly sent to bomb Moscow. Larry Hagman (pre-I Dream of Jeannie and pre-Dallas) played an advisor to the President. |
Terry Thomas and Eric Sykes played turn of the century aviators who compete in a race from London to Paris in the British comedy, The Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machines. |
Hush ... Hush, Sweet Charlotte was conceived as a follow-up to Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, but Joan Crawford (who did not get along with Bette Davis) avoided the movie and Olivia de Havilland was cast opposite Davis. Davis played a southern spinster who was suspected of killing her lover forty years ago and now appears on the verge of insanity. Cousin Miriam (de Havilland) comes to "help" Charlotte.
