Efrem Zimbalist Jr, Ed Byrnes, and Roger Smith starred in "77 Sunset Strip" which aired at 8:30 (CST) Friday nights on ABC. In 1962-63 the series was on its last legs -- '64 would be its last season. Spin-off series, "Hawaiian Eye" aired on Tuesdays at 7:30 (CST).

"The Twilight Zone" had been with us since 1959, but things changed a bit in 1962 as the program was not on the fall schedule, but emerged as a midseason replacement and became an hour long show.
In 1961, NBC began broadcasting relatively "new" films in prime time on Saturday night -- "NBC Saturday Night at the Movies." Prior to that, the only movies available for television broadcast had been ten or more years old. The Saturday night movie season began in 1962 with "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."
"Ben Casey" and "Dr. Kildare" had debuted in 1961 and were both were top programs in 1962.
