In the midst of the rock and roll invasion of the pop charts, Perry Como was still hanging in there in 1957. But the rock phenomenon that had been launched by Elvis Presley was spreading and the other three "Featured Artists" are representative of this new recording style. The Coasters were a hard rocking "doo-wop" group that sometimes doubled as a comedy act. The Everly Brothers brought a country background and special vocal harmony to the rock and roll sound. And Fats Domino was riding the popularity of rock and roll to expose millions to his New Orleans blues sound.
