The spotlight songs of 1958 are comprised of a dance number, a comedic rocker, a folk song, an instrumental, and a classic doo-wop record. Bobby Freeman's "Do You Wanna Dance" is a classic that has been successfully covered by other generations of rockers. "Yakety - Yak" represents well the fun side of rock and roll and the vaudeville like talents of the Coasters. The Kingston Trio first broke into the pop music scene in 1958 with their rendition of the classic folk song, "Tom Dooley." "Tears On My Pillow" would be the first hit also for Little Anthony & the Imperials who would have continued success with their vocal style into the mid 1960's. The Champs produced a classic that would continue to be played for decades to come as everybody entoned "Tequila!"
