James Brown was moderately successful during the Elvis Era, placing four songs in the Billboard top 40, including "Prisoner of Love" which was his best, topping out at #18. He would go on to record 15 additional top twenty records, his best being his last top forty entry, "Living in America" (#4) from the movie, "Rocky IV."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was established in 1983 and inducted the first performers in 1986.  In 1995 it opened at its permanent location in Cleveland.  Of the first ten inductees, nine were prominent during The Elvis Era.  The only one not to have numerous hit records at the time was James Brown – and he still can claim to be part of The Elvis Era in that his recording, "Prisoner of Love" (#18)reached the top twenty In 1963.  There are 44 artists who had a top twenty record between 1956 and 1963 who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
