What about the bench contribution that Coach Anderson had declared necessary when the ‘87 - ‘88 campaign began? Senior, Scott Tingelhoff contributed 8 points to the Ashland victory and had 6 against Aquinas. Fellow senior, Shawn Liliedahl had 8 against Bergan and 8 against Aquinas. But the most significant name was one that nobody had mentioned to this point. His name first appears in the line score for the David City Aquinas game in the first round of the Holiday Tournament. Perhaps because there was no junior varsity game, freshman Jason Glock found himself not only in a varsity uniform, but in the varsity game. He went 5 - 9 and scored 10 points. He scored two points in the Yutan game. In the final six games Jason scored 36 points, including a 6 - 6 effort against Valley, a game Wahoo played without Steve Carmer, who was sick.

By the time the three week sprint to the end of the season was over, many of the Wahoo faithful had forgotten the loss to Syracuse. They had much to distract them. Of course they enjoyed the barrage of three point goals -- always crowd pleasers. And back to back dunks by Carmer and Bartek in the Aquinas gym had the visiting fans on their feet. The more sophisticated fans were nodding approvingly at Troy Glock’s 11 assists in the Valley contest. All in all, it appeared that the Warriors were ready to enter a Class B district tournament. In preseason interviews, Coach Anderson had stated, “the last couple of years we’ve peaked at the right time and played some of our better basketball at the end of the year.” It was looking like this year’s team was also playing at its best as District approached. But now it was tournament time. Another loss would mean the end of the season.
