Using a patient, deliberate offense, Syracuse pulled off an upset win in the Capitol Conference Championship game, defeating Wahoo 48 - 45. Syracuse took the lead 38 - 36 at the end of the third quarter. A driving layup by Steve Malousek brought Wahoo to within one at 46 - 45 with 31 seconds to go in the game. But two freethrows by the Rockets’ Marty Bundy with 11 seconds left sealed the win for Syracuse. Steve Carmer led the Warriors with 16 points and was joined in double figures by Steve Malousek (11) and Dan Bartek (10).
