The original highlight video produced for the '88 - '89 team was a big improvement over the '87 - '88 video in content, but in quality, it was still fairly low -- the technology had not changed much. But in '88 - '89, there was a lot more original footage, less reliance on "game tapes." The video produced for this web site has some material taken from the original highlight tape, but is mostly reworked from the original footage. Therefore, the new video, using digital technology, is much superior to the original highlight video. Due to the abundance of material, the video for the web site has been split into four parts: Part 1 an introductory summary of the season, part 2 highlights the regular season, part 3 the District Tournament and part 4 the State Tournament.
One change in the 1989 video was some use of a little more sophisticated video graphics. New computer software at the time "Computer Eyes" enabled the user to generate still pictures from video freeze frames. These images were very grainy, but still added to the video presentation. The images used to create the graphic screens to the left were similarly produced, but today's software (Photoshop and Quicktime) produces clearer pictures and allows for more creative layouts. The photo images are still not the quality of a camera photo because the original video footage (vhs) is very low resolution. |
