vs. Lincoln Pius X

3/9/1989 vs. Lincoln Pius X NONCONFERENCE game NEUTRAL STATE TOURNAMENT

Season Game #: 26 / Streak Game #: 38 / Current Record: 26 - 0

WAHOO: 10 ... 7 ... 14 ... 30 ... 7 -- 68
Lincoln Pius X: 11 ... 16 ... 16 ... 18 ... 5 -- 66

In the fourth quarter of the Class B State Championship game, Wahoo found itself in familiar territory, behind Pius X just as they had been in the ‘88 title game. But this time it was worse. Wahoo was down 16 with six minutes to go. They narrowed the gap, but were still down 9 with 1:06 to go. But at the 28 second mark, they closed to within four. Then Pius’s Tom Burt broke open down court in the lane as Wahoo desperately tried to press the Thunderbolts into a turnover. He scored to make it a 6 point game with only 20 seconds left. Bernie Inbody canned a 30 footer. As he back-peddled into the back court, he intercepted the Pius deep pass and promptly dished the ball forward to Troy Glock. With 2 seconds to go, Glock launched from the top of the key and the ball came off the back of the rim and the backboard to settle in the net and tie the game. Ryan Eddie opened overtime with a three pointer and Wahoo went 4 - 4 from the freethrow line to claim the 68 - 66 win.
