Wahoo had a successful launch to their mission for a sixth straight trip to the state tournament, defeating Omaha Cathedral 97 - 35 at Bellevue West High School in the first round of the B-3 District Tournament. Wahoo never gave Cathedral a chance, scoring 7 points in the first 35 seconds of the game. The Warriors didn’t allow the Cardinals a fieldgoal in the first stanza and finished the first quarter up 24 - 4. After a slow second quarter, Wahoo blasted away again in the second half, outscoring Cathedral 25 - 9 in the third. The reserves played the fourth quarter and continued the romp as Keith Klemme put up 7 in the quarter and Sean Brennan scored 9. Coach Anderson commented, “We lost our intensity when we were leading 32 - 4. I was real pleased with three of the four quarters.” Jeff Simons led the Warriors in scoring with 18, while Justin Anderson contributed 16 and Trent Toline 12.
