WAHOO: 16 ... 18 ... 22 ... 16 .... 72
Omaha Roncalli: 10 ... 9 ... 19 ... 13 .... 51

Wahoo garnered its sixth consecutive district title by defeating Omaha Roncalli 72 - 51 in front of an overflow crowd estimated at 2400 at Bellevue West High School. The Warriors won their right to advance to the state tournament in Lincoln behind a 29 point, 15 rebound performance by Jeff Simons and 25 points from fellow senior, Trent Toline. Wahoo shut down Roncalli early, employing a special press defense that Coach Anderson described as a variation of their “triangle-and-two.” It was effective as the Crimson Pride was held to 19 points in the first half and Wahoo held a 15 point lead. Roncalli was never able to get the lead under ten in the second half. Roncalli coach, Doug Woodard commented, “They’re a great team and it’s no mystery why they won. They rise to the occasion in the big game.”
