Raymond Central pulled off an upset in the first round of the Holiday Tournament, downing Class B #2 Schulyer 74 - 52 to earn a shot at #1, Wahoo. But the fire went out the next night as Wahoo quickly doused any Mustang hopes of a weekend double, jumping out to a 29 - 8 lead and settling for a 71 - 55 win. Raymond Central never threw in the towel, outscoring Wahoo in the second half and actually closing the margin to eleven in the fourth quarter. However, the early lead was too much to overcome as Central coach, Dale Rasmussen expressed it, “It took us over a half to get over the fear factor of playing Wahoo. By that time it was too late.” Joel Weyand paced the Warriors with 20 points and was joined by Trent Toline (17), Justin Anderson (11) and Jeff Simons (10) in double figures.
