Season Game #: 15 / Current Record: 15 - 0

Ashland: 21 ... 9 ... 19 ... 13 .... 62
Wahoo won its fifteenth game of the season, 104 - 62 over Ashland, but the final score was not very indicative of the nature of the game. Ashland gave Wahoo its toughest first quarter of the season, as Wahoo’s lead was only 23 - 21. And the Bluejays did it with the “cherry picker,” a gimmick defense that left one Ashland defender at their offensive end while the Bluejays played 4 on 5 on defense. Ashland Coach, Kent Kingston explained that the intent was to take Wahoo point guard, Joel Weyand out of the press by making him continually sprint back on defense to defend the “cherry picker.” The move was effective for the first quarter, but then, as Coach Anderson put it, “Once we settled down in our half court offense, we were all right. Most of that “all right” came from Mike Hancock who took advantage of the 5 on 4 situation to light up Ashland for nine three pointers, seven in a second quarter that saw Wahoo put up 43 points (a school record) and sprint to a 66 - 30 lead. Led by Hancock’s 30 points, Justin Anderson (23), Greg Hain (16), and Weyand (15) also scored in double figures.
