2/27/0993 vs. Gretna ... NONCONFERENCE / NEUTRAL / DISTRICT TOURNAMENT / First Round

Season Game #: 20 / Current Record: 20 - 0

WAHOO: 19 ... 1`9 ... 19 ... 25 .... 82
Gretna: 0 ... 8 ... 8 ... 17 .... 33

Wahoo opened play in the B-2 District Tournament by blasting Gretna 82 - 33. Wahoo was unchallenged as they sprinted to one of their typical starts, scoring the first 23 points of the contest. Gretna tried to slow the game down, but Wahoo forced 30 Dragon turnovers with their pressure defense and Gretna could never get into the game. Gretna coach, Ralph Setter said the Dragons “wanted to take a shot every 20 - 40 seconds.” His team didn’t get the opportunity to even shoot that much as the turnovers resulted in the Dragons attempting only two fieldgoal attempts the first quarter. By half time, the Wahoo lead was 38 - 8. Coach Anderson thought his team was a little “sluggish” in spite of the winning margin, pointing out that the Warriors had had a week off: “What I wanted to do was get up and down the floor and get the staleness out.” Joel Weyand (22), Travis Toline (18), and Mike Hancock (15) led the Warriors in scoring.
