Wahoo claimed its seventh consecutive trip to the state tournament with a 77 - 47 victory over Plattsmouth in the B-2 District championship game. The Warriors got off to one of their patented quick starts, going 9 for 12 in the first quarter and opening up a 23 - 4 lead. But Plattsmouth didn’t fold. Coach Anderson: “When we got the big lead, I think we backed down a little bit.” The Blue Devils outscored Wahoo 13 - 10 in th second quarter to narrow the lead to 16 and keep their upset hopes alive. Plattsmouth was still within 13 points late in the third quarter when Wahoo went on an 11 - 0 run and put the game away. Mike Hancock (17 points) led a balanced Wahoo attack that placed all five starters in double figures. Joel Weyand and Travis Toline each netted 14, while Justin Anderson had 13 and Greg Hain 10. Even with the 30 point margin, Coach Anderson thought Plattsmouth was a challenge: “They are the biggest team we’ve played this year. I thought they played well at times.”
