12/28/1992 vs. Schuyler ... NONCONFERENCE / NEUTRAL / HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT / First Round

Season Game #: 4 / Current Record: 4 - 0

WAHOO: 28 ... 27 ... 25 ... 27 .... 107
Schuyler: 4 ... 10 ... 19 ... 16 .... 49

After taking some time off for the Christmas break, Wahoo didn’t skip a beat in the opening game of the Wahoo Neumann Holiday Tournament, and rolled to a 107 - 49 win over the Warriors of Schuyler. Leading 5 - 2 early in the contest, Wahoo put on one of its classic runs, scoring 23 straight points. Many of those points were generated by the havoc created by the Wahoo defense as Wahoo forced 28 first half turnovers and 48 for the game. The resulting layups led to rapid scoring and a 56% shooting effort for the Warriors. But it wasn’t all easy baskets as Wahoo also drained 7 threes, including 2 of 3 from leading scorer Joel Weyand (26 points). Weyand had 18 in the first half, but that wasn’t even the best of the Warriors at that point as Travis Toline had poured in 19, which would be his game total. Starters Mike Hancock (14) and Justin Anderson (17) were also in double figures. Reserves played a good deal of the second half and Brett Eddie took advantage of his opportunity, netting 10 points, eight in the fourth quarter. Schuyler Coach Jeff Droge commented, “They are impressive.”
