12/5/1992 vs. Seward ... NONCONFERENCE / HOME / REGULAR SEASON /
Season Game #: 1 / Current Record: 1 - 0
WAHOO: 26 ... 29 ... 34 ... 24 .... 113
Seward: 8 ... 14 ... 19 ... 20 .... 61
The Warriors launched their season with a decisive 113 - 61 win over Seward. Joel Weyand led Wahoo with 28 points and was joined in double figures by Mike Hancock (26), Travis Toline (20), and Justin Anderson (14). The game was a blowout from the beginning as Wahoo forced 26 Bluejay turnovers and sprinted to a 55 - 22 half time lead. Deflections and steals generated by the tenacious Wahoo defense led to many easy layups. Combined with torrid three point shooting, including six treys from Mike Hancock, the Wahoo intensity proved to be too much for a Seward team that was fresh off a 75 - 47 win over Nebraska City. Coach Anderson was certainly “pleased” with the Warrior debut, but quickly pointed out that “we have to find a way to keep the intensity up.”
