3/11/1994 vs. Omaha Gross ... NONCONFERENCE / NEUTRAL / STATE TOURNAMENT / Semi Final

Season Game #: 27 / Current Record: 26 - 1

WAHOO: 15 ... 9 ... 16 ... 24 .... 64
Omaha Gross: 14 ... 5 ... 16 ... 14 .... 49

Wahoo advanced to the finals of the Class B State Tournament with a narrow (by Wahoo standards) 64 - 49 win over Omaha Gross. Wahoo appeared to be in a comfortable position as they started the game with a 15 - 8 lead behind 9 first quarter points from Greg Hain. But Gross finished the quarter with a 6 - 0 run and Wahoo found itself with only a one point lead at the end of the first quarter. The Cougars then took a four point lead half way through the second period. But a 9 - 0 run to end the quarter put Wahoo up five at half time. Through the third period and early into the fourth period, Gross battled evenly with the Warriors. Wahoo was leading by only three, 49 - 46 with less than four minutes to go in the game. Then Wahoo had one of their patented runs, a 13 - 1 spurt to put the game away. Wahoo then spread their offense and connected on 11 of 12 freethrows, 7 by Hain and 4 by Mike Simons, to seal the win. It was a unique game for Wahoo as only four players scored, but they were all in double figures: Hain (23), Simons (16), Mike Hancock (14), and Travis Toline (11).

Noteworthy:
Leading Scorer: Greg Hain 23 pts.
