3/12/1994 vs. Norris ... NONCONFERENCE / NEUTRAL / STATE TOURNAMENT / Finals

Season Game #: 28 / Current Record: 27 - 1

WAHOO: 16 ... 20 ... 9 ... 17 .... 62
Norris: 19 ... 4 ... 11 ... 13 .... 47

Wahoo was tested by Norris, but played well enough to secure their sixth Class B State Championship in seven years, downing the Titans 62 - 47. The previously undefeated Titans looked like they were upset bound as they took an early lead over the Warriors. With the Warriors trailing 19 - 16 at the end of the first period, Greg Hain took over. The senior guard put up 16 second quarter points. The Wahoo defense also clamped down on Norris, holding the Titans to only four points. Norris stayed close in the third period, but as the clock became their enemy in the final quarter, the Titans were forced to foul. Wahoo made enough freethrows, with Mike Hancock converting 7 of 9, to bring home the championship. Hain (26) and Hancock (29) were the scoring leaders for the Warriors. Although the 62 points was well below the Wahoo average, Coach Anderson expressed satisfaction with the win: “We played tonight to win and not worry about point averages. We have six nice looking trophies in our case and that’s what’s important to me.”
