2/11/1994 vs. Valley ... CONFERENCE / AWAY / REGULAR SEASON /

Season Game #: 20 / Current Record: 19 - 1

WAHOO: 32 ... 27 ... 23 ... 16 .... 98
Valley: 6 ... 11 ... 18 ... 10 .... 45

Wahoo defeated Valley 98 - 45 in a game punctuated by three point shooting. The teams combined to attempt 51 long distance shots. The difference was that Wahoo, led by Mike Simons (6 / 11) connected on 14, while the Terriers made only one. Wahoo sprinted to a 36 - 2 lead as Simons scored 12 and Greg Hain 10. The onslaught continued into the second period as Simons netted three treys and Wahoo stretched the lead to 59 - 17. Simons and Hain’s open shots were a product of a Valley box and one defense the concentrated on containing Mike Hancock. Hancock still was able to score 18 for the game, including a 9 / 12 performance from the freethrow line. Simons finished with 29 points and Hain with 16. They were joined in double figures by Louie Wotipka with 10, including two of the Warrior three point goals. Valley coach, Charlie Doeden, believed his special defense was at least somewhat effective as the Terriers limited the Wahoo fast break attempts which had destroyed Valley in their earlier matchup. Coach Doeden: “I’d much rather see them shoot three pointers than shoot layups.”
