Wahoo escaped with a 74-69 win over Ashland, as the Jays put up a much tougher fight than the previous week in the conference tournament championship game. The Jays gave notice early that they would be in the game as they opened with a 7 - 1 lead. Ashland coach Kent Kingston commented, “We didn’t come here to play close, we came here to win.” But Eric Eddie and Josh Herrmann combined for twelve first quarter points and Wahoo pulled ahead 17 - 13. Five quick points at the start of the second period made it appear the Warriors would break the game open. But the Jays fought back and pulled to within one at 26-25. Wahoo was able to extend the lead to 9 at the start of the final period, but once again Ashland responded. A Corbin Harms three with 59 seconds remaining tied the game at 67. An Eric Eddie drive with 39 seconds to play put Wahoo up by two. Mike Simons connected on four free throws down the stretch to seal the win for the Warriors. Simons led the scoring with 24 while Eddie added 16, Josh Anderson 14, and Josh Herrmann 12.
