In the second game of their 1995-96 season Wahoo lost to Grand Island Central Catholic 57 - 68. It was a unique experience for the Warriors -- the first regular season loss since December 28, 1993 when Monsignor McClancy defeated Wahoo in the Prep Holiday Classic in Lincoln. The preseason ranked #4 Crusaders employed a triangle and two defense to stymie the Wahoo attack. Eric Eddie was held to six points for the game and Mike Simons barely made double figures with ten. Josh Anderson led Wahoo in scoring with 20. Meanwhile, GICC’s C.J. Cowgill put up 33 points. GICC finished the first half with a 6-0 run that gave the Crusaders a 32 - 29 lead which they never relinquished. GICC coach Bill Gavers summed up his team’s effort: “We played with intelligence. and we did it for 32 minutes, not just spurts. The team did a great job.”
