THE YEAR

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE?

Introduction ... High Hopes ... Skeptics ... A Rare Loss ... A Streak Ends ... Giant Killers ... Losing Streak

The 1996 Warriors had set their sights on a state championship.  It was a lofty goal and they were “on a mission.”  When the season opened on December 2nd, 1995, the realization of that goal was a long way off – many games to be played before even having a chance at playing in the state tournament.  But with their starting lineup from the previous season intact, the Warriors were confident they would get there.  On December 26th, 1995, having lost only four games in eight seasons, Wahoo suffered its third loss of the year.  It was beginning to look like mission impossible.
