The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays 57-45 on Saturday.

The Warriors jumped out to an 8-0 lead on two free throws from Jared Moline, a Taylor Murren basket, a Matt Myers trey and a Murren free throw. Wahoo held the Bluejays to just three first quarter points and led 12-3 after one quarter.

Ashland closed the Wahoo lead to 20-15 midway through the second quarter, but a basket from Murren and two free throws a piece from Greg Milliken and Tyler Brunsting pushed the lead to 11 at 26-15. A lay up at the end of the quarter from Murren put Wahoo up 30-19 at halftime.

Ashland cut the lead to 32-24 early in the third quarter, but a basket from Jared Moline, and back back baskets by Taylor Murren pushed the lead to 14 at 38-24. Wahoo led 45-31 after three quarters.

Two free throws from Murren gave the Warriors their biggest lead at 51-33 with five minutes left. Turnovers from the Warriors allowed Ashland to make the game tighter, but Wahoo finished with a 57-45 win.

"Outside of the last four minutes, I was pleased with how we played. I thought defensively we were very solid. We pressured Ashland into 22 turnovers, which is how we need to play on the defensive end." Said Coach Kevin Scheef.

Taylor Murren led Wahoo with 18 points and 4 steals. Jared Moline had 14 points and 8 boards. Matt Myers added 10 points. Tyler Brunsting contributed 8 rebounds and Layne Moore added 7 boards.

Ashland committed 22 turnovers compared to 12 for Wahoo.

Wahoo improves to 10-8, while Ashland-Greenwood drops to 3-13. Wahoo will travel to North Bend on Tuesday before finishing up the regular season at Schuyler on Friday.
