Wahoo 63
Crete 37

The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Crete Cardinals 63-37 on Saturday night.

The game was tied at 13 with two minutes left in the first quarter. Tyler Brunsting converted two free throws, and then back to back steals by the Warriors and lay ups by Brunsting and Greg Milliken put Wahoo up 19-13 after one quarter.

In the second quarter, Crete failed to score on it's first 5 possessions. A baskets by Layne Moore, and 2 free throws from Matt Myers followed by another Myers basket, put Wahoo up 25-13. A Taylor Murren trey at the end of the quarter sent Wahoo to the locker room up 34-20.

The Warriors maintained their lead through the third quarter and lead 44-28 at the end of 3 quarters. In the fourth quarter, the Warriors provided the knockout punch, and stretched the lead to 26 at 56-30 before finishing with the 63-37 win.

Taylor Murren led the Warriors with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Layne Moore added 13 points. Tyler Brunsting had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Myers added 8 points and 8 rebounds. Jared Moline added 9 boards.

The Warriors outrebounded the Cardinals 49-32, and committed just 10 turnovers compared to 20 turnovers for Crete.

"After an extremely emotional win last night against Syracuse, I was worried about a let down, but the kids did a great job of carrying over their efforts from last night. This was a great weekend for us. Our kids' confidence is back, and I just thought that we played with a lot of passion this weekend, which you have to have to be successful." Said Coach Kevin Scheef.

"We have been outrebounded all season long. It has been a big weakness of ours, so it was great to see us dominate Crete on the glass, especially when you consider that they went 6'8, 6'5, 6'5, and 6'4. Jared Moline really came alive on the boards this weekend, and Tyler Brunsting played extremely hard for us and really did a great job of rebounding this weekend as well. Taylor Murren, Matt Myers, Layne Moore, and Greg Milliken really played well tonight for us." Added Coach Scheef.

The Warriors improved to 4-5 and will face D.C. West on Saturday. Crete falls to 0-9.
