Wahoo 65
D.C. West 48

The Wahoo Warriors defeated the D.C. West Falcons 65-48 on Saturday night.

A Taylor Murren trey at the buzzer ended the first quarter with Wahoo up 17-12. The Warriors extended the lead in the second quarter. A Jared Moline trey put Wahoo up 27-16 midway through the quarter. Two possessions later, a Layne Moore trey extended the lead to 30-16. The half ended with Wahoo up 31-18.

The Warriors scored the first four points of the third quarter on a Moline basket, and Murren lay up to extend the lead to 35-18. D.C. then went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 35-25. A Layne Moore three point play put Wahoo up 38-25. A Murren basket towards the end of the quarter put Wahoo 45-35 heading into the fourth quarter.

A three point play from Matt Myers, a trey from Layne Moore, and a Taylor Murren basket put Wahoo up 18 at 53-35. The Warriors could still not completely put the Falcons away, however. D.C. cut the Warrior lead to 58-48 with three minutes to play, but six consecutive free throws from Layne Moore put the game away for the Warriors, and Wahoo would go on to the 65-48 win.

"At times, we played well, but we did not always play very smart. We had some chances to put them away throughout the second half, but were not able to do so until late in the game. None-the-less, it was a good win, and got us back to the 500% mark. It was great to have Layne Moore and Jared Moline step up and provide some scoring for us. It was also good to shoot the ball well from the free throw line, which has been a struggle for us this season." Said Coach Kevin Scheef.

Taylor Murren led the Warriors with 22 points. Layne Moore contributed a career high 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Jared Moline had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Wahoo improved to 5-5, while D.C. West dropped to 4-8.
