The Wahoo Warriors traveled to Ashland on Saturday to take on the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays.

The Bluejays scored the first 4 points of the game, but the Warriors scored the next 10 points to take a 10-4 lead. Senior Greg Milliken had 8 of the first 10 Warrior points, and Wahoo would lead 13-6 after one quarter.

The Warriors stretched out the lead in the second quarter, and at the half le 33-17. Milliken had 20 first half points, and Max Cook had 8 first half points.

Wahoo scored the first 6 points of the third quarter on two Josh Discher buckets and a Milliken jumper to make it 39-17. The lead was 41-19, when the Bluejays went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to to 41-29. A Josh Discher free throw, a Casey Brown trey, and a Milliken steal and assist to Cook pushed the lead back to 17 at 47-30. A Christian Hohl trey ended the third quarter with the Warriors up 22 at 54-32.

In the fourth quarter, the Warriors could not put the Bluejays away. Ashland chipped away at the lead on some hot shooting by Senior Nick Pease, but the score never got closer than 13.

Wahoo was led by Greg Milliken who had 29 points on 11-17 shooting from the field, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Max Cook added 12 points, 6 steals, and 5 assists. Josh Discher added 7 points, and Sean Lindgren contributed 5 boards.

Coach Scheef: “Greg Millken had a great night shooting the ball for us. We did a better job of taking care of the ball tonight, as we had just 12 turnovers. Our transition defense was poor tonight, and I would have liked to have seen us been able to put them away in the fourth quarter, which we did not do.”

The Warriors improved their record to 15-5. With the win, the Warriors also captured the Capitol Conference regular season title. The Bluejays fell to 8-9. Wahoo will next travel to Logan View on Monday night in a rescheduled game.
