Wahoo             65David City      43

The Wahoo Warriors traveled to David City on Tuesday night and defeated the Scouts 65-43. Wahoo jumped out to a 13-6 lead early in the game, following a Mitch Shukis basket, but David City had taken the lead by the end of the first quarter at 17-15.

The Scouts led for most of the second quarter, and were up 25-20, when Casey Brown scored, followed by a Jon Abbott free throw. Max Cook then hit a trey, and followed with a second trey at the buzzer to give Wahoo a 29-28 halftime lead.

The Warriors started to take control in the third quarter. A Jon Abbott basket, a Max Cook basket, and a Ben Scheef bucket gave the Warriors a 35-31 lead. After a David City basket cut the lead to 35-33, Tyler Kavan had a steal for a lay up and followed that up with a 3 point shot to put Wahoo up 40-33. The third quarter ended with Wahoo up 46-39.

Wahoo opened the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run. Max Cook had 8 of the 12 points, Jon Abbott had 2, and Casey Brown had 2 in the run, to put Wahoo up 58-39, to seal the victory. Max Cook led Wahoo with 26 points, 6 steals, and 6 boards.  Jon Abbott added 13 points and 6 boards. Ben Scheef had 8 points and 11 rebounds. Casey Brown added 7 points and 7 rebounds. The Warriors outrebounded the Scouts 42-28.

Coach Scheef: “I thought we played a real nice second half. In the first half, I thought David City played very well, and was the more aggressive team on the floor, but we were able to get that changed around in the second half. I was pleased to see the rebounding margin.  We have struggled rebounding at times early in the season, but were much better at that tonight.”

Wahoo improves to 3-0 and will play host to Logan View on Saturday. David City drops to 0-2.
