The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Crete Cardinals 63-51 Saturday afternoon in Crete.

A trey from Gavin Iversen to end the first quarter put Wahoo up 18-15 after one quarter.

Wahoo was able to stretch out the lead in the second quarter. Six consecutive points from Ben Scheef put Wahoo up 38-24. A three point shot from Crete at the end of the quarter cut the Wahoo lead to 38-27 at halftime.

An 8-2 run by Crete to open the third quarter, cut the Warrior lead to 5 at 40-35. Two Colin Nadrchal free throws and a trey from Josh Langemeier pushed the Warrior lead back to 10 at 45-35. A minute later, another Langemeier trey put Wahoo up 11 at 50-39. The third quarter ended with Wahoo up 52-44.

A Ben Scheef bucket made it 54-44 early in the fourth. Crete countered with a trey and a free throw to make 54-48 with five minutes left. A Gavin Iversen lay up and a Ben Scheef bucket stretched the lead back to 10 at 58-48. A Jake Scheef steal and three point play made it 61-49, and two Gavin Iversen ended the Warrior scoring to make it 63-51.

Jake Scheef led Wahoo with 19 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and 4 steals. Gavin Iversen had 14 points on 5-7 shooting from the field and 3 steals. Ben Scheef had 14 points and a game high 12 boards. Josh Langemeier had 8 points and 6 boards.

Wahoo improved to 10-1 and will host Platteview on Friday night. Crete drops to 3-5.
