The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Arlington Eagles 60-39 in the first round of the Capitol Conference Tournament Tuesday night in Wahoo.

Both team were unable to get much going offensively in a mistake filled first quarter. The quarter ended with Arlington up 7-6, as the Warriors had 8 first quarter turnovers.

The Eagles still led 21-17 with a minute left in the half. A Jake Ruzicka bucket followed by a Billy Hancock trey put Wahoo up 22-21 at half.

The Warriors started to break the game open early in the third quarter. A Cameron Quick bucket, followed by a Brendan Lacey three point play put Wahoo up 27-21. The score was 31-25, when Lacey made back to back three pointers to put the Warriors up 37-25. The Eagles scored the last 6 points of the third quarter to make it 37-31 after three.

Baskets by Jake Ruzicka and Cameron Quick to start the fourth quarter pushed the lead back to 10 at 41-31. A Jake Ruzicka basket, two Brendan Lacey free throws, and a Billy Hancock trey put Wahoo up 48-33, and the Warriors would finish it up, for a 60-39 victory.

Brendan Lacey led the Warriors with 20 points, 18 of them coming in the second half on 8-9 shooting from the line to go with 8 boards. Jake Ruzicka added 11 points and 10 boards. Cameron Quick had 9 points and 10 boards. Billy Hancock added 9 points on 3 treys.

Wahoo out rebounded Arlington 37-25, and shot 50% from the field.

Wahoo improves to 7-8 and will travel to Fort Calhoun on Friday to take on the Pioneers in Conference Tournament Semi-Finals. Arlington falls to 5-10.
