Wahoo vs. Ashland

The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejay 62-44 on Saturday afternoon in Ashland.

Wahoo got off to slow start and was down 5-1 after five minutes of action.  Over the next seven minutes of action, the Warriors would outscore the Bluejays 26-4.  Two Billy Hancock treys, a Brendan Lacey trey and a Corby Brigham layup put Wahoo up after one quarter 14-5.

Back to back Brendan Lacey buckets put Wahoo up 27-9 with 3:56 left in the half.  A Cameron Quick free throw put Wahoo up 33-15 at the halftime.

In the second half, Wahoo maintained their lead and was not threatened. A Jake Ruzicka free throw gave Wahoo their largest lead at 60-37 with 3:30 left.

Brendan Lacey led the Warriors with 16 points.  Jake Ruzicka had 14 points and 11 boards.  Billy Hancock added 13 points on 4-8 shooting from the 3 point line. Will Shanahan had 6 boards and 3 blocks. Cameron Quick added 6 boards and 4 assists.

The Warriors outrebounded the Bluejays 34-27, and were 7-17 from the 3 point line compared to 4-27 for Ashland.

The Warriors won their 11th straight game to improve to 14-8, while Ashland-Greenwood dropped to 5-15.  The Warriors will close out the regular season on Friday at home vs. Schuyler.

“We played really well for an eight minute stretch  in the first half, but outside of that, we were not terribly sharp.  We could not put them away in the second half like I had hoped.” Said Coach Kevin Scheef.
