The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders 48-34 on Saturday night in Grand Island.
The Warriors led 10-9 after one quarter behind treys from Dylan Egr and Brendan Lacey. Wahoo stretched the lead to 24-16 after a Brendan Lacey bucket. The half ended with Wahoo up 24-19. Jake Ruzicka was 6-6 from the line in the second quarter.
The Warriors stretched the lead to 30-22 in the third quarter after a Ben Shanahan bucket. Two Cameron Quick free throws gave the Warriors a 9 point lead at the end of the third quarter at 34-25.
Early in the fourth quarter, a Brendan Lacey trey gave Wahoo a 10 point lead at 37-27. Two minutes later in the fourth quarter, a Billy Hancock trey was the dagger that put Wahoo up 44-30 with 3 minutes left.
Jake Ruzicka led the Warriors with 16 points and 5 boards. Brendan Lacey had 12 points, 6 boards, and 3 steals. Billy Hancock added 8 points.
Wahoo committed just 10 turnovers and out rebounded GICC 25-21. The Warriors were 5-9 from 3 point range, and 17-19 from the free throw line.
In winning their 8th straight game, Wahoo improved to 11-8. GICC falls to 10-10. The Warriors host #1 rated Columbus Scotus on Tuesday night.
