The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Arlington Eagles 84-54 on Friday night in Capitol Conference action in Wahoo.
The game was close early. Wahoo led just 22-19 after one quarter. They extended the lead late in the second quarter, and following a Trey Scheef tip in at the buzzer, led 41-31 at halftime.
The Warriors opened it up in the third quarter. A Thomas Waido three point play was followed by a Trey Scheef three. Back to back baskets from Thomas Waido, followed by a Blake Lacey bucket, ended a 14-2 run to start the third and put Wahoo up 55-33. The quarter ended with Wahoo up 68-42.
“Arlington played really hard and really well early. It took awhile for us to take control and break the game open, but we were able to do that with a real nice third quarter.” Said Wahoo Coach Kevin Scheef.
Winston Cook led four Warriors in double figures with 18 points on 7-10 shooting from the field. Thomas Waido had 17 points on 7-8 shooting from the floor, to go with 5 boards, and 4 steals. Blake Lacey added 13 points, and Trey Scheef contributed 12.
The Warriors forced 20 turnovers while committing just 4.
Wahoo improves to 16-3 and will host Grand Island Central Catholic on Saturday afternoon. Arlington drops to 2-15. |
