3/9/19 At Lincoln Southeast, State Tournament Consolation Game

The Wahoo Warriors were defeated by the Ogallala Indians 74-63 in the Consolation game of the Class C-1 State Tournament on Saturday morning at Lincoln Southeast High School.
The game was tied at 19 after one quarter. The Indians were able to break the game open, when they went on a 13-0 run to open the second quarter, to take a 32-19 lead. Ogallala went to the halftime break up 45-32.
The Warriors would keep battling and would keep the game close. Ogallala still led by 14 after three at 57-43. In the fourth quarter, two baskets a piece from Gerardo Madrid and Trey Scheef, cut the lead to five at 57-52, but Wahoo would get no closer, and Ogallala would close out the 74-63 win.
“I was really proud of our kids. Without having Winston and Blake for the game, I felt like our kids really competed hard, and gave it everything they had. Karson Hesser and Thomas Waido had big games for us. I could not have asked for any more effort and heart from them.” Said Coach Kevin Scheef.
Karson Hesser led the Warriors with a careeh high 18 points and 5 boards. Trey Scheef added 12 points. Gerardo Madrid scored 11 points, and Thomas Waido had 10 points, 12 boards, and 6 assists.
The Warriors finished their season 24-5, while Ogallala finished 28-1. |
