1/24/19 At Wahoo, Semi-Finals, Conf. Tour.
The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Platteview Trojans 62-50 on Thursday night in the Capitol Conference Semi-Finals.
Platteview led 13-10 late in the first period. A three point play and a bucket from Winston Cook put Wahoo up 15-13 after one.
Wahoo led 26-24 midway through the second quarter, when a Winston Cook bucket and three point play from Karson Hesser put the Warriors up 31-24 at the halftime break.
A Blake Lacey trey to start the third period, and a Winston Cook bucket, put Wahoo up 36-24. Another Winston Cook basket at the end of the quarter put Wahoo up 48-34.
Wahoo took it’s biggest lead at 58-41 with three minutes left before ending with the 62-50 win.
“We were not terribly sharp tonight. We had some really poor passes, and some bad decisions on the offensive end. We did not rebound the ball the way we needed to either. We need to be better on Saturday.” Said Coach Kevin Scheef.
Winston Cook led the Warriors with 26 points on 12-18 shooting from the field to go with 7 boards, and 3 blocks. Thomas Waido added a career high 18 points on 8-10 shooting from the field, to go with 4 boards and 4 steals. Blake Lacey added 8 points. Trey Scheef had 6 boards and 6 steals. Karson Hesser added 6 boards.
Wahoo improves to 14-3, and will host Ashland-Greenwood on Saturday night in the Finals of the Conference Tournament.
