The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Logan View-Scribner-Snyder Raiders 48-40 on Saturday afternoon in Wahoo.
The Warriors scored the first ten points of the game on treys from Trevor Kasischke and Triston Keeney, and two buckets from Thomas Waido. The Raiders then scored the next eight points to cut the lead to 10-8. Trey Scheef would then score the next eight points for Wahoo, and the quarter would end with Wahoo up 18-10.
Logan View would cut the lead to 20-18 late in the second quarter. A bucket from Thomas Waido and two Braden Harris free throws put Wahoo up 24-18 at the half.
Three’s from Trevor Kasischke and Gerardo Madrid put Wahoo up 30-21 early in the third. Two Thomas Waido free throws put Wahoo up 39-30 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Raiders scored the first five points of the quarter to cut the lead to 39-35, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the way. A Thomas Waido bucket, and three Trey Scheef free throws put Wahoo up 44-35 with two minutes left in the game and Wahoo would hold on for the win.
“We made some poor decisions with the basketball and got outrebounded again, but it was a good win over a good team, and we will take it. Thomas Waido was really good out top defensively for us today” Said Coach Kevin Scheef.
Thomas Waido and Trey Scheef both scored 16 points. Waido was 7-8 from the field, to go with a game high 8 steals.
Logan View outrebounded Wahoo 25-18, but had 26 turnovers to 15 for Wahoo.
Wahoo improves to 4-0 on the season, while Logan View dropped to 3-1. The Warriors will travel to Fort Calhoun next Friday night.
