The Wahoo Warriors got their first win of the season on Friday night at home against the Aurora Huskies 59-36.
The Warriors got off to a great start and raced to a 14-5 lead and led 16-7 after one quarter. Five Warriors scored in the opening period.
Wahoo continued to increase the lead in the second quarter. The lead grew to 29-10 late in the half, before heading to the break with a 30-14 lead. Myles Simon paced the Warriors with 10 first half points.
The lead grew to 23 late in the third quarter at 41-18, and the score heading into the fourth was 41-21. Wahoo would maintain the lead throughout, as reserved finished up the game.
Myles Simon paced the Warriors with 13 points on 4-4 shooting from the field, and 6 boards. Garrett Grandgenett had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Trevor Kasischke added 11 points and 4 steals. Owen Hancock added 8 points. Triston Keeney had 5 assists.
Wahoo shot 53.8% from the floor compared to 31.0% for Aurora.
Wahoo improved to 1-1 and will travel to Logan View on Thursday night. Aurora falls to 1-1.
