The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Crete Cardinals 56-43 on Saturday afternoon in Wahoo.
The Warriors got off to a great start as they scored the first 11 points of the game and led 17-3 midway through the quarter. They would lead 27-14 after one quarter. Owen Hancock had a huge first quarter, as he had 10 points and 7 steals in the quarter. Myles Simon added 6 first quarter points.
From the second quarter on, the points became tough to come by for the Warriors. Crete would cut the Warrior lead to 32-25 at the half.
Crete scored the first 4 points of the third quarter to cut the Wahoo lead to 3 at 32-29. Back to back buckets from Marcus Glock and Owen Hancock pushed the lead to 36-29. Myles Simon would score the last 6 points of the quarter for Wahoo, to give the Warriors a 42-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals opened the fourth quarter with a trey to cut the lead to 42-38. Owen Hancock would hit 3 consecutive treys to push the lead to 51-41. A Kamron Kasischke trey made it 54-43, and allowed the Warriors to escape with the win.
Wahoo was missing both of it’s Seniors, Triston Keeney and Trevor Kasischke due to illness.
Owen Hancock led the Warriors with 21 points on 9-12 shooting from the field, to go with 8 steals, and 4 assists. Myles Simon had 12 points on 6-8 shooting from the field. Marcus Glock added 12 points. Garrett Grandgenett added 9 boards.
Wahoo forced 30 Crete Cardinals turnovers, but also turned it over 21 times themselves.
Wahoo improves to 9-2 and will travel to Blair on Tuesday. Crete falls to 3-8.
