The Wahoo Warriors were defeated by the #2 ranked team in Class B, the Norris Titans 56-49 on Friday night at Norris.
Norris jumped out to the early lead of 11-3 midway through the first period. A Trevor Kasischke bucket cut the lead to 12-9, but the Titans would head to the second period with a 17-9 lead.
An Owen Hancock lay up cut the Titan lead to 18-16 midway through the second period. Norris would lead 24-20 at the half.
Norris extended their lead to 33-24 in the third quarter. A Triston Keeney trey and an Owen Hancock bucket cut the lead to 33-29. Norris would lead 38-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
A Trevor Kasischke trey cut the Titan lead to 43-39 midway through the fourth quarter. The Warriors again cut the lead to four at 46-42 on a Owen Hancock bucket. Wahoo got the steal on the next possession and a chance to cut the lead to 2, but the Warriors turned it over, and a three point play from Norris pushed the lead to 7 at 49-42, and Wahoo would get no closer the rest of the way.
Wahoo shot just 32.7% for the game compared to 51.4% for Norris, and were outrebounded by 9. Wahoo forced 18 Titan turnovers compared to just 8 for Wahoo.
Trevor Kasischke led Wahoo with 21 points. Owen Hancock added 11 points and 8 boards. Garrett Grandgenett had 9 points and 5 boards.
Wahoo falls to 16-6 and will next play in the Sub-Districts on Tuesday night against the winner of Monday night’s match up between Bishop Neumann and David City. Norris improves to 16-2.
