The Wahoo Warriors were defeated by the Pierce Bluejays 53-45 in the District Final at Wahoo on Saturday.
Wahoo led 6-4 midway through the first period, but a 9-0 run by Pierce to end the quarter put the Bluejays up 13-6 after one quarter.
Pierce went to the halftime break up 5, at 23-18.
The third quarter saw Pierce open up a 15 point lead at 38-23. A bucket by Myles Simon and a trey by Owen Hancock cut the lead to 38-28 after three.
Wahoo cut the lead to four at 49-45 after a Myles Simon bucket with 1:05 left, but the Warriors would not get any closer as the Bluejays wrapped up the win at the free throw line.
Owen Hancock led the Warriors with 14 points. Trevor Kasischke added 11, and Marcus Glock had 10. Triston Keeney had 6 assists, and Owen Hancock, Myles Simon, and Garrett Grandgenett each had 5 boards.
Wahoo was out rebounded 36-21, and shot just 32.6% from the field.
Wahoo ends it’s season at 18-7. Pierce improves to 21-4 and advances to the State Tournament.
