The Wahoo Warriors were defeated by the Yutan Chieftains 63-59 on Saturday afternoon in Yutan.
The game was tied at 11 midway through the first quarter, when Yutan went on an 8-0 run to take a 19-11 lead. A Trevor Kasischke bucket cut the lead to 19-13 after one.
Yutan maintained their lead throughout the second quarter and went to the halftime break with a 34-24 lead.
The Warriors mounted a comeback in the third quarter and took their first lead since early in the game on a Myles Simon bucket towards the end of the period to lead 47-46 after three.
A 6-1 run by Yutan to start the fourth put the Chieftains up 52-48. An Owen Hancock bucket, followed by two Marcus Glock free throws and another Hancock bucket put Wahoo back in front at 54-53. A Trevor Kasischke trey tied the game at 59 with 45 seconds left. A Yutan free throw put the Chieftains up 60-59. The Warriors would misfire on their next two possessions, and Yutan put the game away at the free throw line, to win 63-59.
Trevor Kasischke led the Warriors with 23 points on 4-4 shooting from behind the arc. Myles Simon added 10 points, 5 boards, and 5 steals. Triston Keeney had 6 assists.
The Warriors fall to 7-2, while Yutan improves to 6-1. The Warriors will travel to Lincoln Lutheran on Tuesday.
