12/28/1993 vs. Monsignor McClancy NY ... NONCONFERENCE / NEUTRAL / HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT / First Round

Season Game #: 6 / Current Record: 5 - 1

WAHOO: 9 ... 12 ... 20 ... 12 .... 53
Monsignor McClancy NY: 15 ... 17 ... 14 ... 18 .... 64

Wahoo suffered its first loss of the season in the opening round of the Prep Holiday Classic in Lincoln, losing to Monsignor McClancy of New York, 53 - 64. The New York team, unlike Wahoo’s previous opponents was able to match Wahoo’s quickness and that gave the Warriors trouble as Coach Anderson pointed out that “ ... they’re a step quicker. We needed more zip on the ball.” After trailing by six at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors made a run and closed to within two with a minute and a half to go in the second period. But McClancy forced three Wahoo turnovers and scored nine straight points to take a 32 - 21 half time lead. With Travis Toline netting eight points in the third period, WAhoo once again closed the gap to 40 - 39, but then McClancy had another run and the New Yorkers took a 46 - 41 lead into the final period. Although Wahoo’s top scorer, Mike Hancock led the team again with 18 points, McClancy successfully keyed on him and held him to 2 of 10 on three pointers. Greg Hain (10) and Toline (17) were also in double figures for the Warriors.
