Wahoo claimed the consolation championship in the Prep Holiday Classic tournament by defeating Near North, IL 106 - 75. The Warriors demonstrated their superiority early by jumping to a 29 - 17 first quarter lead. Wahoo forced ten turnovers in the initial period while Greg Hain and Mike Hancock combined for 18 points. The Chicago team closed to within five late in the second period, but Josh Anderson connected on consecutive three’s and then Hancock ended the period with a three that kept Wahoo ahead 49 - 39. The Warriors then went on a 16 - 4 run to start the second half and Near North would never get any closer than the 18 point margin at the end of three. Wahoo came close to having five players in double figures. The team was led by season high efforts by Mike Hancock (35) and Travis Toline (25) while Greg Hain contributed 18 and Mike Simons 15. Anderson came off the bench to score 9. Coach Anderson commented on the offensive production: “We didn’t take many bad shots and our press was very effective in getting us some easy baskets.”
