Wahoo vs Elkhorn North

In the 2025 Class B first round at the state tournament, Wahoo lost to Elkhorn North. 2026 found the Warriors in the same situation with the same result as the Warriors were defeated by Elkhorn North 66 – 39. It was Wahoo’s fifth consecutive trip to the state tournament.

The Warriors trailed from the beginning as the Wolves jumped off to a 19 – 8 lead in the opening stanza. The bright spot for Wahoo was Joey Kelley. The freshman was the only Warrior to score in the first quarter, connecting on two three-pointers. Wahoo held Elkhorn North to only 10 points in the second quarter, but could generate only 6 points and fell behind 29 – 14 at the half.

Landon Glock netted two three-pointers in the third period and Wahoo kept pace, but Wahoo still trailed 43 – 28 at the end of three. The Wolves erupted for 23 points as freshman Brayton Jackson poured in 10 points and Elkhorn ran away with the victory.
Kelly was the only Wahoo player to reach double figures with 10 points. Jackson scored 15 for the Wolves and Kellen Murphy led the scoring with 17. The Wolves’ defense forced 16 Wahoo turnovers and held the Warriors to 25% field goals (11 / 44) including only 4-of-25 (16%) on three-pointers.

Wahoo finished the season with a 19 – 6 reccord. Elkhorn advanced to the semi-finals where they defeated Omaha Skutt Catholic and finished as state runner-up, ultimately losing in the finals to Scotsbluff.
