"Sing Along With Mitch" entered its third season in 1963. Mitch Miller had been an A&R man for Columbia records for over a decade and had experienced some top forty success with recordings such as "The Yellow Rose of Texas." The program would be cancelled the next season -- one of many victims of the "British Invasion."
James Franciscus starred as a high school English teacher in "Mr. Novak." The series would only last two seasons on NBC.
"The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" was in its twilight in 1963 having premiered in 1952 and ending in 1966. We'd watched Ricky Nelson grow up and by the 1963 season he was married.
Having survived since 1959, "Rawhide" was an anchor for CBS's Thursday night lineup. The series was the training ground for Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates.
"McHale's Navy" was in its second of four seasons in 1963. Ernest Borgnine starred as the Commander of PT-73.
In "The Lucy Show," Lucille Ball (Lucy Carmichael) and Vivian Vance (Vivian Bagley) are two single moms.
1963-1964 was the final season for Route 66.
