"The Top Ten" was written by Gary Theroux and Bob Gilbert and published in 1982. It provides a "Top 40" list for each year from 1956 to 1981 and a one page article on each of the top ten songs from each year. It also has a collection of information on pop history to introduce each year.

Dee Dee Sharp's "Mashed Potato Time" was a #1 weekly hit on Cashbox and a #2 on Billboard. The Orlons sang backup. All three surveys had it in the year end top ten -- it was #3 for G&T.

Bobby Boris Pickett's "The Monster Mash" made it to #1 on the Billboard chart the week before Halloween, 1962. It has become a holiday fixture. Of the 17 Billboard #1's included on the G&T list, "The Monster Mash" is the lowest on the G&T list -- #33.

The Isley Brothers' "Twist And Shout" only made it to #17 on the Billboard weekly chart but it made all three year end surveys, #34 for G&T.
