Ashland-Greenwood 39 Semi-Finals of Capitol Conference Tournament

The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays in the semi-finals of the Capitol Conference tournament on Thursday in Arlington 54-29.

Wahoo jumped out to a 12-0 lead early in the game. Ben Scheef scored the first two baskets, followed by a trey from Brook Stuart, a three point play from Jake Scheef and a basket from Jonathan Abbott. The quarter ended with Wahoo up 14-3.

The Warriors then went on a 14-0 to start the second quarter to break the game open. A three from Brook Stuart and a Jake Scheef basket capped the run to make it 27-3. The Warriors went to the break with a 34-7 lead. A Tyler Kavan basket and Jonathan Abbott free throw pushed the lead to 37-7 early in the third quarter. Wahoo would lead 44-19 after three quarters. Reserves played much of the fourth quarter, to finish up the 54-29 win.

Brook Stuart led the Warriors in scoring with 12 points on 4-9 shooting from behind the arc. Jake Scheef added 11 points on 5-8 shooting. Ben Scheef added 9 points and 6 boards. Tyler Kavan had 8 points, while Jonathan Abbott contributed 7 points, 7 boards, and 5 steals.

The Warrior defense limited the Bluejays to just 20% (9-45) shooting from the field while also forcing 18 turnovers. Wahoo shot 51.2% (22-43) from the field.

Wahoo improves to 16-0 and will take on the 14-3 Fort Calhoun Pioneers in the Conference Tournament Finals on Saturday in Arlington.
