Wahoo      69Syracuse   44

The Wahoo Warriors defeated the Syracuse Rockets at home in the first round of the Capitol Conference Tournament on Tuesday night. The Warriors led 16-8 after a Casey Brown trey to end the quarter.  Wahoo took control in the second quarter and outscored the Rockets 19-2, to take a 35-10 halftime lead.  Max Cook hit a 3 right before half to put the Warriors up by 25 heading to halftime.  Cook had 18 first half points.

Wahoo stretched the lead to 60-27 after three quarters of play, before reserves finished out the game.

Coach Scheef: “I was really pleased with our efforts.  Coming off of back to back losses, it was important for us to play well early, and take control of the game, and I thought we did that. I thought our two seniors, Max Cook and Casey Brown both played very well for us tonight. Our defense in the first half was very good. Whenever you can hold a team to 10 points in a half, you have to feel good about that.”

Max Cook led the way with 24 points on 8-11 shooting from the field, 6 boards, and 4 steals. Casey Brown had 10 points and 5 boards. Josh Langemeier contributed 8 points. Jon Abbott had 7 points and a team high 8 boards. The Warriors forced 23 Rocket turnovers, compared to just 12 of their own.

The Warriors will now face Raymond Central on Friday night at Wahoo in the Semi-Finals of the tournament.  The Warriors improve to 13-2 on the sekason.
