The Wahoo Warriors were defeated by the #1 rated Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays 63-54 in overtime on Tuesday night in Ashland.

The Warriors got off to a great start and led 8-4 after one quarter. After a third Keegan Brigham trey of the half, Wahoo led 23-9 late in the first half. Ashland-Greenwood closed the gap to 24-14 at the half.

The Bluejays chewed into the Warrior lead quickly in the third quarter. Ashland cut the lead to 25-22 early in the third. Wahoo led 35-34 after three.

A Jase Kaminski trey pushed the Warrior lead to 38-34 early in the fourth. The Warriors were up two at 40-38, when Barrett Lavaley’s third trey of the game, made it 43-38. The lead was 49-48 with 2:30 left when a three point Marcus Glock play made it 52-48. The Bluejays would tie it up at 52 a minute later. Wahoo held the ball for the last shot with 1:00 left, but would be called for a violation with 2.5 seconds left. A half court Bluejay shot missed the mark, and the game went to overtime.

A Dylan Simons steal and lay up, gave the Warriors the lead at 54-52, but missed shots and turnovers would doom the Warriors down the stretch, and the Bluejays closed the game on a 11-0 run, to take home the win at 63-54.

Marcus Glock led the Warriors with 17 points and 8 boards. Keegan Brigham added 11 points on 3-5 shooting from behind the arc. Barrett Lavaley added 9 points on 3-4 shooting from three point range. Dylan Simons had 8 rebounds.

Coaches' Corner:

“We were really good the first half, especially defensively. Ashland-Greenwood is a really good team, and it was a battle in the second half, with both teams making some big plays.   They just made a few more than we do.  It was a great December game, and we have to learn from some things to get to where we want to be.” -- Coach Kevin Scheef.
